Juneteenth Giving Campaign

Welcome to the 2021 Juneteenth Campaign benefitting the Bishop John T. Walker School for Boys! We’re glad you’re here.

This first ever BWS Juneteenth campaign was conceptualized as an opportunity to raise awareness of our School and the imperative role we play in shifting the educational narrative and experience of boys living East of the Anacostia River in Southeast DC.

Increasing calls for investment in Black communities have been amplified during Juneteenth in response to what appears to be a mass racial awakening, and the Bishop Walker School sees its mission and work as a shining example of what can be done to lay a firm foundation in the lives of our next generation of Black male leaders. The Bishop Walker School is an Episcopal school which strives to ignite in boys a love for learning and a commitment to serve others in an intellectually rich and socially engaging environment.

As a tuition-free, independent school serving 100% African American boys, the Bishop Walker School is solely funded through the generosity of the philanthropic community. We receive our funding from individuals, Episcopal parishes, foundations, and corporations. This is why your support is so critical!

During the 2021-2022 school year, we will begin implementing our multi-year COVID-19 Pandemic Response to begin addressing the challenges of the past year and to improve and innovate our academic program as we seek to close the learning loss that has occurred as a result of the pandemic.
We need you now more than ever before and we are thankful for your interest in joining us in the mission of helping our scholars reach their full academic potential through this campaign.
